Windows Vista Problem in Dual boot Vista and XP

HI Friends,

Please help me out !!
regarding the following

I got a new hp dv6626 latop from my bother, he had installed Vista which has some Receovery partition.
I was installed XP by creating some partitions (D Drive) ..
After installation that is not dual booting ..
Just showing XP directly ..
But i am able to see the files in Vista (C Drive) ..
If i use recovery partition DVD .. does i ll lost my new data and partitions ..
Tell me what to do ?
I want back again that Vista ... ?
