PPT2003 Presenter View

Is there any way to show Presenter View when a 2nd
monitor is not present? We want to rehearse a PPT show and
display the notes.

No, but could you rehearse in Notes Page view?

You could try pressing Ctrl while clicking the Slide Show
button. This plays the show in the upper-left corner and
you can still see the Slide Pane.

I did think of that, but the person presenting would like
to go over the slides exactly how they will be displayed
in presenter view without have a 2nd monitor connected.
Also, when the presenter goes on the road to give PPT
shows we would like to avoid having to reconfigure the
extended desktop (I've noticed after several reboots
without 2nd monitor connected, extended desktop has to be
reconfigured).

That's certainly understandable, but I don't think it's possible off the shelf.

An electronics wiz might be able to figure out how Windows senses the second
monitor and cobble up some kind of little "air monitor" thingie you plug into
the external monitor port. Or might not. <g>

Or display the notes by right clicking and selecting 'display notes', from
within an active presentation?


Wanting a different configuration without wanting to reconfigure is a little
contradictory, don't you think?

We'll try displaying the notes during the show as you
suggest. We don't want a different configuration, just
want the same one even if a 2nd monitor is not attached...

I may be misreading, but it sounds to me like the speaker wants to be able to
practice the presentation in the same view as they'll use when delivering it.

This makes perfect sense.

They probably don't care (for rehearsal purposes) whether PPT is showing
slides, nothing, or reruns of I Love Lucy on the monitor *that isn't there.*

Well. So long as they can turn down the sound on Lucy, that is.

It seems a reasonable request to me, if that's what it's about.

That's exactly what we are looking for, I just wished I
had phrased it like that in the beginning! I was hoping
there was a way to trick PPT2003 into always displaying in
Presenter View, but I guess not.
