No manual slide transitions - how to restore?

I've got some presentations for which the original PPT files were lost. I've
loaded them from the exported HTML and everything seems to work except:

The original files had 5 second timed transitions between the slides. When I
reset the transitions to manual, the settings appear to have been saved but
the space key, N, Enter, right-click, and so on do not work during the slide
show.

This appears to be a problem in the presentation file as the same behavior
happens with other computers using different installations of PowerPoint.

How can this be fixed?
 
Open one of the presentations in PowerPoint and go to Slide Show > Setup Show
and uncheck Kiosk if it's checked. Let us know if that isn't the problem.
