Greetings,
I am looking for a freeware 'Install monitor (like InCtrl5)'
like PCmagazine used to have 'inctrl5'.
Is there a freeware one around?
Thanks...vmars316
If you are using Windows 7 or, dare I say it before bursting into flames, Windows Vista then you have a built in feature called User Access Control (UAC). There is also a back up feature that runs automatically called System Restore. UAC restricts access to the OS for major changes such as registry modification and "illegal" hard drive writes, such as modifying the Program Files folder. System Restore takes a snapshot of your machine and allows you to revert to a previous time in the event that an installation or other corruption occurs.
Both of which you paid for when purchasing the OS. Options will be different for Linux.
