In the previous version of Word, you could create not only matrices, but
augmented matrices. Is this possible in 2007?

Amy,

Please explain what you mean by matrices and augmented matrices?
Are you referring to Equation Editor functions, i.e., mathematical matrices,
or, are you referring something else?

Amy, the "old" Equation Editor is still available in Word 2007,
and it still does augmented matrices. Click on Object in the Text
group of the Insert tab, and you'll see the same Insert Object
dialog from previous versions of Word. You can't add an Equation
Editor icon to the Ribbon, but we have a tutorial showing how to
add it to the Quick Access Toolbar. If you want to see how, the
tutorial is here:

Tom,

Thanks for your reply. Bob successfully answered my question; I was
referring to mathematical matrices.
