how can i get rules to apply to messages sent to a shared mailbox.

I'm trying to send an auto-reply to messages that are addressed to a shared
mailbox that several of us have access to. I tried building a reule and
Outlook shows it uploading to the server, but it doesn't work. any
suggestions or ideas?

Log directly into the mailbox and create the rule. Make sure it isn't 'on
this machine only'.
