HELP!! from scratch or not.. Creating PowerPoint Slides

You can create slides from scratch or from the preloaded options, what do you
find are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
 
Are you making us answer your homework questions?

Which version of PowerPoint do you use? By "preloaded options", do you mean
templates? If you are working for a large company, you cannot start a
presentation from scratch (= blank white slide), but HAVE to use their
template.
