Excel Grouping duplicate text in Excel 2000

I am currently learning the functions in Excel 2007 in class, however, they are a little different on Excel 2000. We learned how to group duplicate files together, but Excel 2007 has a very user friendly function for that and also one for deleting duplicates. Please, can anyone tell me what function is used for the grouping on the Tools tab, is it Advanced filter and how is it used.
