Deleting Private Appointments

A co-worker and I share owner access to our Outlook Calendar (VERSION 2003)which is public. Recently I accidently added a private appointment. Neither of us is able to open, change, or delete this appointment even though we both have ownership of the calendar and I was the original creator.
I've read thru all the others posts on this issue and nothing has worked. We are currently using Microsoft Online Sevices as our Outlook server. Does this make the difference?
