command buttons

Had a computer meltdown and switched to backup computer. When I create a
command button on a form it no longer asks what I want the button to do. It
just makes the button. I am not sure what is going on as this computer is
supposed to have exactly the same software as old. Any suggestions on what
could be wrong would be appreciated.
 
In form design view, locate the Toolbox.
If you can't see it, click Toolbox on the View menu.
Depress the 2nd button.
It's icon looks like a wizard's wand.
