Cannot Right Click

I cannot right click on an icon on the desktop or on a
file in My Computer. Doing so causes the computer to hang,
giving me the eternal hourglass. I can right click on the
desktop itself, just not an icon. I have McAfee running
and am up to date on virus stuff and have been to Kelly's
Korner and Doug's Windows web sites. I have also searched
Microsoft's Knowledge base. Any other ideas?
 
If you've recently installed Critical Update 821557 then uninstall it. This
update causes this problem on some PCs.
