Adding animation to newsletter template

I am using the newsletter template in Word X for the Mac. When I attempt to download an animation from the web, the picture is there but is not animated. Does Word support animation in the newsletter; and if so, how do I do it?
 
The answer is, no, Word does not support gif animation, in Windows or on the
Mac. You will see only the first frame and no more.
 
Word does not support animated gifs, except when saved as html and viewed in
an appropriate browser.
