Windows XP Add Printer Wizard in Win 98se

Add Printer Wizard fails after installing (Any) printer in Device Manager but before dialogue "Local or Network Printer" appears. Reg Clen also failed, likelt corrupt registry entries. Re-installing Won98se twice didn't work. Want to avoid clean reinstall.
 
Is it a usb or LPT1
You might restart hit f8 check your bios settings if ya havent tryed that yet. My usb in bios is off default. I think it might still show in device manager turned off.
If your batterys low and the power went out the bios might have changed on ya. The usb or LPT1
Im not using 98 now I dont think it has a driver roll back in device manager.
