Why is my Microsoft Outlook 2003 sending Ghost Emails?

I was on with Yahoo for an hour yesterday while we tried to figure out why I
was able to send messages and they were not kept in my Outbox, yet no one was
receiving them. We even deleted my old account and started over. It has to
be an issue with the product at this point. There has and is nothing in my
Drafts or Outbox for the last 4 days, yet I keep getting this "Sending
message 1 of 24" message in the lower right hand corner. I'm not even sure
I'm recieving all my email now. I've recently checked the require auth for
SMTP box to see if that would help and it has not. HELP ME!!!!

In addition; if you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook,
disable this integration and try again.

I am having the same problem and called yahoo, but I am still not able to send emails, I can recieve and it says sending 1 0f 11 but nothing is in my outbox. I removed my email setup and entered it back, but still not luck, Can you help?????

OK, I am havving this 'ghost sending' problem too - always 4 extra messages.
I have downloaded the recommended utility, but when I run it, it does not
show any messages in the 'Messages in Folder' pane (even though I had also
deliberately created a messge for the Outbox as a test message - even that
does not show up in the pane).
So how do I now try and tget rid of these ghosts?

I run Outlook 2007 on Wndows XP Home SP3

Are there any send/receive errors?

There is a bug in Outlook 2007 that affects the sending message count for
some
users when they have multiple email accounts configured in Outlook. Most
often it is off by 1 for every email account that is configured in Outlook.
In other words; do you perhaps have 3 mail accounts configured in Outlook?

Yes, I have at least 3 accounts (or is it 4 - cannot quite remember, not on
that PC at the moment) on the same Outlook Profile.
Can I get rid of that particular Outlook 2007 bug?

PS:
No, there are not any send/receive errotrs - or not for reasons that I don't
know about, such as the ISP being temporarily unavailable, or my internet
connection not quite functioning 100% all the time.

Nope, that bug is still not fixed. Maybe in Service Pack 2 which is expected
to arrive in the beginning of next year.

No, that has nothing to do with it. The bug is just a number that is being
displayed wrong. AFAIK, it doesn't affect Outlook's functionality.
