Your Current Security Settings Prohibit Running ActiveX Controls on This Page...

I receive the above message when I try to open Norton
System Works, QuickBooks, etc...

I have tried adjusting my ms explorer 6.0 internet
browser setting to the lowest levels (internet - tools -
internet options - security) as recommended in a few of
the ms knowledge base articles, all to know avail.

I believe I corrupted the active x files or registry
settings when I installed a kodak program. Is there a
way to re-install active x files?

Thanks,

Paul

check IE Options Security tab, Internet Option, custom settings and scroll down and check that Active-X is enabled.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your help. I have enabled the active x
settings and I still have the problem. I think
installing the kodak picture software corupted my
registry somehow.

Thanks,

Paul

Well, if you think it is the Kodak software, then try uninstalling it and
see if that fixes the problem.

You might try taking a look at Group Policy settings. Run GPEDIT.MSC

Also, you can try deleting the Active-X control and see what happens. Go to
C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files. You'll find the control there. I
doubt this will help though. I have seen the same error message now and
then. Some sort of Microsoft bug, I suspect.
