XP's effect on performance

Ever since XP was installed, my computer runs very
slowly. What can be done to speed things up? Thanks.

More RAM (memory).
Turn off the "bells and whistles" that makes XP "pretty".
Turn off useless services.
Scan your system for visruses and spyware (after updating said-software.)

List - except to drag and drop each name on the list -
one at a time - in it's proper place alphabetically.
That is a very slow process! There must be a better way
to do that in this day of technical wizardry???>.
 
From IE's favorites menu (not the favorites pane on the left) right click
any entry and select sort by name.
