Yesterday morning, I was able to open ZIP files in XP using the built-in
support "zipped folder" metaphor. Then I installed several utilities,
atleast one of which hosed up numerous file associations in XP, including
ZIP. I am currently unable to use that method. If I try to open a ZIP file,
it pops up a "file download - do you want to open or save?". No matter how I
answer this, it goes into an infinite loop.
I can extract files from the ZIP using hte right-click menu ad "extract all"
function.
THe KB is (as usual) useless for this problem.
I tried the ZIP association fix from Dougknox.com - no change.
What's the problem here? and what do I do about it?
