XP won't let me into system

I am having a huge problem with my XP machine. I need
someone to help me figure this out ASAP.

When I turn on my computer the following screen comes on
with a message that it can't start and please select one
of the following:

1-SAFE MODE
2-SAFE Mode with networking
3-safe mode command promt
4-option to start with last know good configuration
5-start windows normally

I have tried all options and it keeps cycling back to this
page.

What should I try to bypass this and get into windows so I
can access all my stuff? I have already tried to reboot
via start up disks that someone suggested but ran into a
snag when it asked me to insert my XP disk, I never
received an XP disk, it was preloaded onto the system when
I bought it.

I have tried going into the setup page and see if
something in ther would help but so far no luck.

You should have recovery disks, XP will be on those disks. If you do not have these
disks call your vendor and insist they send them.

Brfore you try any more drastic measures, start up in Safe Mode & try
rolling back to an earlier Restore Point. That's what they're there for.

Mary-
The disks I have are application recovery cds and it keeps
stating that it will format the c and d drive and I will
lose all files. I don't want that to happen. I want to
keep my work. I am a college student and I have lots of
work on there.

John-
I can't even get into to safe mode. See my orgianl post,
the screen keeps recycling, whatever option I chose it
brings me right back to the same screen.

Since you didn't get real a XP CD with your computer, your options are
somewhat limited. That's the downside to an economy PC. If you've got data
you need to save, about your only option is to take the computer to a
competent repair shop and have them back up whatever you need before they
start any work. They might be able to get the system running again,
depending on what has gone wrong, but they might have to use those restore
CDs.

The only thing I can think of that you might be able to do yourself is to
buy an XP Pro upgrade (assuming you got Home with the computer) and install
that. It might work, it might not.

Am in the same boat, however, no matter what choice I make, I get a list of information as follows
multi(0)disk(0)rddisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe and it continues to list these lines until it gets to one that ends with system32\drivers\Mup.sys, then it just hangs and I can do nothing else. Can't even use Ctrl Alt Delete. Have to manually shutdown
Would really appreciate any help I can get, as I said in a previous reply, I have tried starting with Norton, XP boot disk, XP Home original disk. Computer came already loaded (used). Supposedly has ME on it, but if I do a normal startup from my choices of startup, it shows XP Pro, then blacks out
Thanks
