My domain consist of a NT4_PDC, 2 Win2k_workstations,
Win98_Workstation,Win2k_server, XPpro_Workstaion. I have added the XP
mach to the domain on the PDC.The domain name is "Domain2".When I
attempt to log the XP machine on to the domain, I get an error
"...cannot logon...Domain controller is down...unavailable..". I am
using a user name that works everywhere else. I can log on using
"this machine only".Once XP1 boots up, it sees ALL the other
computers. It will access the PDC w/ no issues !!! When attempting access to
the 2 W2k workstations, it displays a logon promt. If I enter
"username/Domain2", it has access to both. It cannot access the Win2k
server displaying "the trust relation between the workstation & the
PDC failed".None of the other machines can access the XP machine
displaying the same "....trust relation..failed" message.I am familar w/
creating "trust" between domains, but not
between a PDC & a workstation.When I go thru the "add to
domain wizard" on the XP machine,it fails to see the PDC (yet
it will access the PDC's files w/ explorer). The TCP/IP & permissions
are all set correctly as well as the local policies on the XP
machine.I wonder if XP regards itself so "high & mighty", it refuses
to be ruled by a PDC two generations below.
