XP (sp2) locks up after sleep mode

I recently reloaded my Dell laptop and after finishing
everything up, I notice that after the computer has been
in sleep mode, it will come back on, but I can't actually
do anything. It doesn't exactly lock up, but it becomes
completely unusably slow. I can't even get it to shut
down or open the task manager. CPU usage goes straight
up to 100% and the fans kick on and stay on. It doesn't
stop. I eventually have to hold the power button down to
shut it off. Even if I wait an hour or more, it just
keeps cranking away and getting hotter. What's wrong?

Go to Dell's support site and look for upgraded power management
software for your particular laptop. While you're there, check and see
if any other programs and/or drivers need patches to work well with
SP2.
