Soon after start up of XP, I received a message regarding FAT32 that was
cheking for accuracies and then looking for additional space on the hard
drive. This process took about 20 minutes. Afterwards, the desktop came up,
but the machine kept freezing. I kept getting locked out, so I tried to
remove and then reinstall XP. (The prior operating system is Windows ME.)
Now, I keep getting "blocked" from reinstalling XP. The "blocked message" is
that Microsoft Fax Viewer is prohibiting XP from reinstalling. I have tried
to remove Fax Viewer from the install/delete procedure, but the program does
not appear there. I have also searched for all files with the words "fax
viewer" in them and have deleted several files. However, I still get the
same message that XP is being blocked. I am also getting a message that
"another installation of XP is already running" after the initial bootup of
the XP installation disk.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome these problems?
Thanks.
