xp pro update.inf?

Hello all,

When trying to install Microsoft update patches I get the message that
update.inf is unavailable / corrupt. Did a search for update.inf and
update.bak and can find no trace of them. From the info I can find it seems
a reinstall of windows is the only option is this the case?

You might try re-downloading that update.

Tried all and in the end reinstalled but fault is still there.
