From XP Pro I can see shared files and manipulate them. From the 2 XP
Home systems I can't even ping the XP Pro box. Each XP home can ping
each other one. The XP Pro can ping all.

This is the Ipconfig from the Pro box.

Gary,

Please provide ipconfig from one of the XP Home computers for comparison.

Is Simple File Sharing enabled or disabled on the XP Pro computer?

Are there now, or were there ever, any software firewalls installed or active on
any of the three computers? In previous cases, the vast majority of similar
problems were caused by misbehaving firewalls.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

No, simple file sharing is off on both machines.

I have had Norton Firewall installed but it has been gone for over a
year. File sharing was working until I upgraded the cpu on the XP Pro
machine.

I am suspucios of Cisco VPN client (version 4.0.2). It has been
removed from Start up, but to no avail on ping.

Eureka! After 80 hours of working on this problem as a newbie, I
found the problem.

Cisco VPN was starting up when I booted the system and stopped even
ping from the other networked computers.

Do a msconfig, uncheck Cisco VPN adapter, reboot and

HOME NETWORK!!!!

Thanks to the others in the NG.
