XP pro and intranet

we have a small intranet running on server 2000 that we set up running with
windows 98 clients. 1 user has upgraded his laptop to xp pro and no matter
how we fiddle with settings including the lmhosts file, his client cannot
see the intranet.

sound familiar? any ideas at all please?
 
Hi Alborwick,

This sounds mad - can the XP user see other computers on the network? can he
be ping'd by another machine and vice-versa?

What are the dns settings for the XP box?
