XP linksys USB wireless unable to get ip address from router

I have a linksys router and linksys usb receiver. I have excellent signal but for some reason XP isn't allowing information from the router to go to the computer. I have swapped out both the router and the usb device with the same results. If I do a system restore to Jan 1 it works fine for about 1 week, then it stops working again. Looking at the packets being sent and received it shows that 25 were sent and none were received.

Does any one have any idea what other steps I can take to try and resolve this issue?

If you haven't done so, disable the XP firewall. You don't need it with the
Linksys router, and it is preventing the router from communicating with the
computer.

This may not be the issue, but my Linksys 'g' router has a nasty habit of
losing it settings (internet connection, network name, the works),
especially when I need to unplug it. I just had to redo all my settings with
the config utility, as if it were fresh out of the box. Just a thought....

Or any other firewalls whilst you are getting it working. then restart it,
and add the new PC as a trusted zone.
