Does anyone here know why Disk Defragmenter would refuse to respond in XP Home
Edition? It's a Gateway (not mine -- I'm working on it for a friend) with only
64MB RAM (I know, I know), 20GB hard drive with about 16GB free, Athlon
processor running at 748MHz (or something like that)....Anyway, when I start
disk defragmenter and click "Analyze" or "Defragment" the selected drive in
the dialogue window flashes and then...nada, nothing, zip.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

With only 64 meg of RAM I am not surprised that a "memory" intensive
utility like a disk defrager would not run. Install at least the
recomended amount of memory(128 meg ) and then try.

Thanks, but it turned out the problem was that SP2 needed to be installed in
order to activate the DCOM Server Process Launcher.
