I no longer have write priveleges (even though i'm the administrator) to
well , everywhere like I did pre vista . does anyone have any idea how to
get write priveleges on vista?

Hi,

A user account, even an admin level user, will not have write privileges to
system folders by default. You must temporarily elevate privileges to do so,
usually be right clicking the program or utility to be run and using 'run as
administrator'. This cannot be set as a default run condition, but must be
acknowledged each time the software is initiated.
