We sometimes need to create a redline document showing our changes and then copy and paste that to a separate "stationery" document for final version. When we try to copy and paste the redline, none of the deletions get pasted and the insertions show as regular text - the redline is completely gone.

Is there a way to do this function? Thank you.

Hi, Kinsa. There is, but not by copying/pasting. You can compare two documents, and then "Save As" the resulting document to a new filename. To compare documents in Word 97, open the newer document, click on Tools | Track Changes | Compare, and select the older document. To compare documents in Word 2000 thru 2003, open the older document, click on Tools | Compare and Merge Documents, and select the newer document.

I needed to perform this same task and when I search the Discussion Groups, I
was able to find an answer to my question. Thank you for this post. It
really helped me.
