winword problem

Hi
Can you please help me , when i open a word document i imediatly get a winword error mesage telling me this programe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down, when i open details it reads "winword exicuted an invalid instruction in module mssp232.dll at 017f505bld28"
I then click close box i loose the document, this hapens every time, all other office programes are ok
I am useing office 97 proffesional on windows 98.
