My Daughters computer will not boot Windows XP after trying to log on
during the holiday. The last time she logged on it worked OK at her college.
I ran the hardware diagnostic test and it worked OK. The computer is an IBM
Thinkpad R40 purchased last April. Any ideas on what to do next?

You didn't tell us what happens when you try but pop the lid and reseat
cards, cables, etc.

He can't do that; it's a laptop. However, the OP hasn't given us enough
information to help. All I can suggest is that he call IBM tech support
(which is excellent) and/or take the machine to a good local repair
shop (not a BestBuy or CompUSA).
