I want to upgrade my windows 98se system. Will an upgrade cause my system
to run just as fast as the full version? Once upgraded can I delete all
of the old 98se files? Thanks.

Given any choice at all, always go with a clean install on a freshly
formatted hard drive. Not only does this insure you wont have any conflicts,
it gives you a fresh start and rids the old drive of any clutter.

Yes and yes. The only difference between the upgrade and full versions
is in the install routine. The upgrade version won't install unless it
sees proof of a qualifying system. The full version will install
regardless. The end result is the same.

The only difference is that the Upgrade version checks that you own a
product that qualifies for the upgrade pricing (like your Win98 does).
If you run the CD from the 98, and in Install, take Upgrade you will be
given the chance to back up all the 98 files. Do so if you are not very
short on disk space. Then later you can go to Add/Remove programs and
take 'Uninstall windows' which will give you the choice of either
reverting to the Win98 as at the time you upgraded, or of removing the
files.

First make sure you have adequate hardware - more than 128MB RAM
especially, preferably 256. And Read Gary Woodruff's article on
upgrading to XP at http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpupgrad.htm

I regard that as bad advice in an upgrade to XP. IT is left over
conventional wisdom from win95. If you do an upgrade in the first
instance, you can revert to the previous system. ANd can always do the
clean install if things don't work out. The converse is not true
