Windows XP Splash screen

When I boot the computer all it get is a black screen I
do not get the Windows XP Professional Screen. How do I
get the Windows XP Splash screen back.

What was the last thing done to the machine before this started happening?
You can try last known good as a first step, also try safe mode and see if
the machine will come up properly there.
