Windows XP Search engine

Why does XP not search like 2000 ? I need to search text
files on a daily basis but I receive "No results" 99.9
percent of the time when I KNOW this data is in the text
file im searching.

I use my Windows 2000 machine and do the SAME search to
get my results.

Any ideas, I was told files with odd file extentions
confuse XP.

Have you enabled drive indexing? Go to My Computer, right clock on the drive(s)
in question and check the "allow drive to be indexed" block.
