Hi all,

As I understand windows default for the region is region
1 (one).

I would like to know if there is anyway to make the
windows "region free", as I would like to travel to
overseas and would want to be able to play dvd's from all
regions. If that is impossible, having a region free dvd
drive or dvd player (software- such as DVD X Player Pro)
will solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

hi carey,

yes I have that web site too, but i would like to know if
I install the dvdidle, do I need to change the region in
Windows as well or not?

If I do, then I would like to know how I can make the
windows "region free"?

thanks

These days it is not just Windows but the actual DVD drive that is
regionalised. My one DVD drive dates from before that - it can be reset
for several players (including Power DVD) with a DVD Genie program. But
if the drive is set to a single region itself, like my DVD burner, there
is nothing you can do about it. The whole business is becoming a farce
anyway - just about anywhere here that you see domestic DVD players
offered, there is a 'region free' variant at a modest extra charge

Hi Alex,

yes but how I can change the windows region settings and
how I can make it region free?

Thanks for your message.
