Windows XP Pro and AOL 9 problem

I recently upgraded my home computer that I use for AOL.
My old computer was taken my hunting camp to use from that
location. I was connecting from a cable modem at home but
now use a Diamond Supra USB 56K modem with dialup from my
camp. I cannot log on from the dialup connection because
every time I try to connect, it dials, uses my username
and a "password" that is about sixteen characters in
length, much longer than the one I use, and no matter what
I do, I cannot make that "password" go away so I can put
in the correct one. My feeling is that this is a Windows
problem and not an AOL problem (I have deleted and re-
installed AOL)...has anyone out there had a similar
problem, or can anyone give me some input as to what to
try next?...Thanks in advance

Out of the two, AOL is the larger problem.
Also, I bet AOL passwords are like many other passwords.. The number of *'s
does not necessarily correspond to the number of letters in the password for
securities sake.

I would contact AOL. Since you are not trying to get rid of the service -
other than trying to sell you more services, they should be very helpful.

Also, depending on which service you selected - well, what dial-up are you
trying to use? If you selected AOL for broadband "Bring your own access",
then you don't have a dial-up number for AOL. So on.. Go here:

Good Luck. You'll need it with AOL. heh

Here is a thought, if your are running windows exp create a new connectin through the wizard you will be prompted for a password and username at the appropriate stage in the Game

To get this started right click on My Network places on the Desktop select proprities

There you should be able tos elect make a new connection , click next then chhose connect to the internet and from there it is simple step by step.
