I just built a new system and am trying to install Windows XP with SP2 (OEM).
It will not boot from CD - I did change the BIOS setup to boot from the ROM.
I also tried making the 6 floppy disks and booting from the floppy drive -
once I get all of the disks installed it asks to insert my Windows XP SP2 CD
in and when i do and hit continue it does nothing.

I put this cd in my old system and it can recognize the cd. What do i need
to do?

MY new system:
Asus K8N-E Deluxe motherboard
Athlon 64 bit 3200 processor
ATI All in Wonder 9800 Pro video card
Western Digital 200GB Hard Drive (brand new) 7200rpm
512MB PC3200 DDR memory
Plextor DVD RW Drive

Have you tried a different CD drive?

You say another system can recognize it, but this one cannot - seems the
logical next step would be to swap out hardware and find the bad component.

Sounds like defective CD. Your old system can "see" it but will it
boot from the OEM CD?

I did try swaping the cd rom drive out - it still did not work. Any other
suggestions.

By the way - this is the home edition.

Thanks, I finally got it. I tried booting from my older systems cd rom - it
didn't work, then i tried booting from the CD-RW and it worked. I put the
CD-RW
in my new system and it worked fine. Thanks.
