Problem -- a friend brought me a computer that she is unable to remember her
password to logon to windows XP, hers is the only name available on the logon
screen. There is no administrator option and we can not determine what the
correct password is.
Question -- does anyone know a way to get around the logon screen so we do
not have to reinstall windows?
Thank You in advance for any help you may be able to send our way.

On Pro Edition, from the Welcome Screen, press ctrl-Alt-Delete Twice. On
Home, boot to Safe Mode, and logon. Once there, go to Start/Run and type
in: control userpasswords
Once there, click on her idenity and select, remove my password.

The system is XP Pro. I have tried the control - alt - delete and nothing
happens. i am assuming that you mean the "Log on to Widows" screen.
Thank you so much for your answer, unfortunatly it is not the correct one
for this problem.

logon to safe mode.....keep hitting F8 when the system restarts and
then select safe mode from the options......logon to the administrator
account and then change or delete the passwords or the account
