Okay so I'm running this computer with Windows XP Home Edition, but I have a
computer that i recieved from a friend, but the hard drive has been wiped
clean. I read on how to create a boot up disk for XP, but it says that after
I use the boot up floppies, I will need the Windows XP C.D. to continue. Is
there any way I can make one on my current computer, or do I have to go out
and buy Windows XP?

Since the rule is one copy of XP per computer, you will need another copy of
XP for the machine you received from your friend. Try Newegg.com.

You can't install Windows XP on two computers. You will have to buy the full
version. Remember that it will be transferrable to a new computer since it
will not be and OEM verson. For that very reason, I have bought may last
three computers with no OS installed..

If you can't afford to purchase a second copy of XP there are freeware
alternatives to Microsoft operating systems. Do a search for Linux Mandrake.
The download is pretty huge. You need 3 iso files that are around 700MB each
for a full install. Linux has come a long way in terms of ease of use and
installation. Mandrake is one of the easiest.

If you decide that a freeware OS isn't for you and you'd prefer Windows then
you will need to purchase another copy to install on your second system.
