I have a windows XP system with an Athlon 1500 CPU an
Gigabyte motherboard and 512 Mgs of RAM. The system was
working perfectly until just recently it just quit and
now it freezes after just a few seconds after power up.
Replaced the hard drive but that did not help, still
freezes during POST. I am thinking the processor has gone
bad but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Definitely sounds like a failed component. Unless you have the means to swap
in known-good parts and use testing equipment, you would be best off taking
the system to a shop.
