Before installing Service Pack 2 my boot screen used to read "Windows XP
Professional". Now it just reads "Windows XP". Somehow I feel cheated with
this.
Did this happen to all updates or just mine?

After installing SP2 my boot screen reads "Os2/Warped" with the Warped
splash screen. This machine is too new to even know that Warped existed. I
feel like MS has some explaining to do and especially a fix.

If I had known that it was going to do this, I'd have saved my XP Pro
splash screen. I think that it was logo.sys, in older versions, but I
don't know what is is in XP.

I went as far as to remove the service pack because of this. I'll update
again if someone can tell me how to keep my old boot screen.

I saw a message in 24hoursupport.helpdesk where one poster said that he
got a XP Pro version of SP2. Mine isn't.

I edited the boot.ini file because I saw a strange switch in there. Once I
removed it the system displayed the proper boot screen and SP2 works with all
of the programs I've tried so far. Chek your boot.ini it should read like
this"

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect

If you have a multi boot system you will see additional boot info similar
to the above begining with"mulit...
There are a handful og switches that can follow / fastdetect but this is the
default configuration
Hope this helps
