Windows XP and passwords - please help

I desperately need help. I have Windows XP professional
on my laptop and was changing the domain name for my
laptop's configuration. After rebooting, the standard
password that I use for logging into XP does not work.
I've tried to enter the password several times but have
had no luck. I tried to start XP in the safe mode, but,
even that requires a password to use my laptop.

Can anyone suggest any workarounds to this problem.

After changing the machine from being a domain member
all accounts from the old domain are no longer allowed.
Is this your situation ?
You should be able to use machine local accounts, just
as you could while the machine was a domain member.
