Windows Vista and disk trashing

Eric Fortier

Hi all,

Will Windows Vista help in the case where I'm either copying a lot of files or
installing a large application (read: game ;) and the system becomes bogged
down due to page faults?

For example I just installed a game while I was working in Borland's BDS (yeah,
shame on me!) and the installer thrashed so much that BDS had to constantly
page data in from disk and became extremely sluggish and unresponsive. I then
switched to Word, which I had open before starting the install and it took at
least 10 seconds to restore the window and allow me to edit the document I was
working on.

I heard a lot of good things about memory management from the Channel 9 videos
and was wondering if the experience outlined above was something Vista helped
