Windows recovery console

When I start up my computer, I get a messagte saying hal.dll is corrupted or missing, my hard drive is still existent and every file is still on it but my computer just can't find hal.dll. I decided to boot from the Windows XP install CD and I tried using the recovery console, using serveral commands but when performing chkdsk, I was told that one or more unrecoverable problems were found. So basically I can't use my recovery console I guess, also when using btcfg /list it tells me no boots can be found. And when I try and use btcfg /rebuild I get an error message saying that it could bve caused by a corrupted file. Your help is much appreciated, thank
