Windows not Starting

I have had Windows XP Professional installed for over year
along with Norton Antivirus and Firewall. All three have
been updated within the last two weeks. When I turn on
the computer it boots up and starts to load Windows and
then restarts. When I try to use the last good copy it
does the same thing. If I have it echo the commands it
loads many files, stops for a few seconds, flashes a blue
screen and restarts. I am unable to see what the error
codes are on the blue screen, it only lasts approximately
a second. If I try reloading windows it wants to format
my hard drive saying not enough room. Based on doing a
dir at the dos prompt I have 7 Gigs available. The only
error statement is the one when it asks if you want to do
a normal start, use last good copy, etc. That mentions
that there is possibly a software conflict. I don't
remember loading any new software the last time the
computer worked which was a week ago. I am trying to
avoid formating my hard drive since it has been about
three weeks since I backed up my data. Any help?

Try to start in "Safe Mode" Keep pressing F8 during boot
up and select safe mode from the menu. If you can get
into safe mode Use Start - Control Panel - System -
Advanced - Startup and Recovery >Settings button -
Uncheck automatically restart. Then restart normally and
the blue screen (if it still happens) will show and you
can get the error messages and codes.

Repost with those and cross your fingers someone can help.

Good luck

I have tried starting in SAFE mode and the same thing
happens. Windows starts loading and then restarts.
