I have several cassette tapes of oldies kind of music
which I would like to put into a computer file and then
download the music to a computer. I went out and got a
line out cable from cassette desk with a line in to plug
into the back of the computer. I have searched through a
whole lot of pages in the media player program, but have
not found anything about downloading cassette music into
a file which I can then copy to a cd. does this program
allow me to do that or what??? Very frustrated. Do I
need someother program that does this thing.

WMP itself does not allow you to record from the line in. You need some type
of encoding program. WMP does have an encoder add-on program that if I
remember correctly will allow you to record from the line in on the sound
card.
