Windows Media Player V. 9.0

When I copy a CD onto my computer or copy to a disk, my
computer shuts down without any warning. It's very
consistent.

What are you using to copy the files? The program I use (Nero) has an option
to "Automatically Shut Down the PC when done" If you're using this make sure
that box is un-checked
