Windows Explorer closes out after a few minutes

Whenever I use Windows Explorer, it closes out and I have
to re-launch it. It will then give me an Application
Error:
The instruction at "0x5f021a10" referenced menory
at "0x5f021a10:. The memory could not be "read".

Question 1: What is causing this?
Question 2: If I have to re-install Windows XP, how can I
just reinstall the Windows Explorer? I cannot afford to
reinstall everything on my computer.
