Window Sizes and Positions Not Being Remembered

I

Iain Mackenzie

Ever since I got my new Hitachi 19" LCD monitor, the sizes and positions on
screen of windows, e.g. Explorer, Control Panel, etc. are not being
remembered by Windows XP.

Any ideas? It's driving me mad having to resize every time!

Just use the mouse to stretch the screen to full size, do not use the
maximize button. Then just click on File and then Close, now that window
will open to the size you stretched it to. This works with OE, IE, Explorer
and the Control Panel.

That's precisely my problem - that doesn't happen. I'm not using the
maximise button. Please read my original post.
Thanks,

Iain;
Use the mouse to drag to the size/position you want.
Hold down the Ctrl key and click the [X] to close.

There is no way that connecting a new monitor is going to cause the problem
you state.

OK guys, this seems to be a weird problem.
Some software works, some doesn't!
Those that do include: Internet Explorer, Outlook, Outlook Express, Word,
Excel, Media Player, Photoshop, Acrobat
Those that don't work include: Windows Explorer, Control Panel, Command
Prompt, etc.
It would seem that it is 'system' type tasks that don't retain their size or
position. In fact if I open and close 'My Computer' without changing the
size or position, then the window opens in a different position each time!
As I said this has only started happening in the last day since I got my new
monitor which uses a different desktop size of 1280x1024 compared to the
previous 1152.
Help!
