Win Zip Not a Valid Archive

Does anyone know why I'm consistently receiving an error message when trying
to open ZIP files with WinZip (and Windows XP)? I've upgraded to the latest
WinZip version but believe it may be a Windows issue. The error message says
the ZIP file is not a valid archive.

Any input would be appreciated.

Go to http://www.google.com/ and search for Win RAR. It
is just like Win Zip but 50x better.
