Win XP service pack 2 problem

I have a problem with XP Home SP2 on a machine. No
restore point made prior to loading, (not my machine I
would like to say), and after install machine will not
run, fails after splash screen with pop up saying Failed
to load resource DLL odbcint.dll . The removal of service
pack using recovery console has not worked as I am not
able to restart machine to run the second stage.
Can anyone help?

please have a look at

I think point 6) at Adam refers to your problem.
